APS Hosts Drive for Supplies on Friday
For Firefighters Battling New Mexico Fires
WHAT: Albuquerque Public Schools is hosting a drive-up and drop-off supplies drive for the firefighters fighting the fires in Northern New Mexico. The Drive for Supplies will be from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 20, in front of Alice and Bruce King Education Complex (APS administrative offices), 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE. The public can also drop off items at the APS-owned KANW radio station, 2020 Coal Ave. NE.
Items collected include:
- Electrolyte powder mix that can be added to water bottles (like Propel)
- Electrolyte replacement water in cases
- Water
- Individual snacks such as protein bars, trail mix, jerky sticks, diabetic-friendly snacks
- Black socks
- Underwear – preferably extra-large, but all sizes welcome
- Dark t-shirts – all sizes
- Chapstick
- Sunblock
- Wet wipes for face and body
- Acetaminophen
- Ibuprofen
- Allergy medications
- Sodas including diet
- Nail clippers
- Tweezers
- Shaving Cream
- Vienna Sausages and potted meat
- Crackers
- Storage Containers
- Containers for warming food (glass preferred)
WHO: APS employees, students, families, and neighbors are encouraged to drop off items.
