Albuquerque police arrest father in infant's death

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Albuquerque police have arrested a man on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death after he claimed his child drowned in a pool.
Officer Simon Drobik said late Tuesday that the man was taken into custody after he was questioned by investigators. Drobik said the man told authorities he was playing with the 9-month-old girl when he accidentally dropped her and she fell into the pool.
Paramedics responded after getting a report about an unresponsive child at an Albuquerque motel. They weren't able to resuscitate the infant.
Police did not immediately identify the father or the child and said the investigation was ongoing. Authorities have yet to say what caused the child's death.
