Man Charged In Stabbing Death Of Clovis Woman

CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) — A Clovis man is facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of woman whose body was found along a walking trail.

Clovis police say 25-year-old Matthew Jennings confessed Tuesday to the stabbing death of 23-year-old Ariel Ulibarri. Authorities say they were able to match DNA from the state crime lab to the murder weapon found at the scene.

Authorities say Jennings also will be charged with tampering with evidence. They don't know yet what prompted the stabbing.

Ulibarri's body was discovered the morning of Nov. 9. Authorities say her 6-year-old son was wandering around in the parking lot. He wasn't injured.
