IPCC Family Story Time: Honoring Women Who Guide Us
In honor of Mother’s Day, our May 10 story time will recognize the love and guidance provided by the strong women in our lives. Both of our books acknowledge the work that matriarchs do to keep traditions alive.
In Just Like Grandma by Kim Rogers, illustrated by Julie Flett, Becca’s grandmother teaches her about the beautiful traditions of their family, inspiring Becca to continue the traditions just like Grandma has.
In Stitches of Tradition by Marcie Rendon (Ojibwa), illustrated by Mangeshig Pawis-Steckley (Ojibwe), a grandmother works hard to create a beautiful ribbon skirt for her granddaughter to wear so that she can be reminded of the traditions that stitch her family together with love.
Free for children and adult family member.
