More Parking, Shuttles for Lobos' Disabled Fans

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — University of New Mexico officials will soon start offering additional parking for disabled fans attending Lobo games.

KOB-TV reports the university will have an overflow parking lot at the Pit as well as golf cart shuttles for ticketholders with disabilities starting with Saturday's home game.

The school has received complaints from some disabled patrons who have to park farther away once all the other handicap parking spaces are taken.

Irene Hovey, a Lobos season-ticket holder who is disabled and has trouble walking, says she campaigned for shuttles three years ago.

University officials say the shuttles were discontinued because demand went down.

The Pit has 137 handicap parking spaces in all.
