Man sentenced to 15 years in prison in fatal DWI wreck

GALLUP, N.M. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a 2017 wreck in Gallup that killed two adults and seriously injured three children. Elijah King was sentenced Monday in McKinley County District Court after pleading guilty Feb. 19 to two counts of vehicle homicide by DWI and three counts of child abuse that resulted in great bodily harm. The New Mexico State Police says King had denied being the driver when rollover crash occurred May 1 on State Road 118 but that video evidence, blood evidence, witness accounts and interview statements by King indicated that he was driving and was drunk.
